Treat Yo Self: October 2018

October was a rough month for me: as I mentioned, I was dealing with a lot of problems. It got to the point where I was crying in the shower that I take before going to work.

I don’t have a lot of disposable income right now due to bills, but one week in October, I just said: screw it. I deserve to splurge at least a little bit to make myself feel better.

First, I got a gel manicure from Nail Tropics:

A few days later, I invited my coworkers to eat at Flatiron 1771 Restaurant and Bar. I treated myself to potato skins and steak!

We (well, I) decided it would be nice if we set a regular day for us all to go out and have a nice dinner out.

And talk about good timing for relaxation: we went to Casa Laura in Los BaƱos for a department outing. I spent a total of 5 hours socializing, before sleeping for 12 hours straight.

Although it really was a stressful month for me, these helped me take my mind off things. When the going gets tough, a little self-care never hurt. I’m happy that I actually developed some healthy coping mechanisms to deal with difficult situations.

Ela is a twentysomething who is constantly getting stuck in self-destructive behavior and bouts of low self-esteem. She struggles with depression and writes to relieve herself of her feelings. Sometimes she even blogs about other things like makeup and positivity. One of her pieces was published in the Inquirer Young Blood in October 2017. She likes cats, dogs, and sometimes even people.
